Hot Haveli is founded by Sinéad Bernhauser, who has a lifelong thing for unique design and far-flung, independent travel.

Her collection's origins lie in sustainable, traditional, artisan skills and focus on women’s employment.

Empowering Women

Whilst travelling India to source suppliers, she gravitated towards suppliers who provided much-needed work to women in their communities.

Many women either hadn't had the opportunity to work or couldn't leave their home to work, because of cultural traditions or childcare needs.

Each partner has signed up to their ethical agreement on working conditions, hours, pay and age. Several are fair trade or charitable organisations particularly focused on training, employing and supporting women artisans.

This provides increased independence, income and education for their children. Overall, the community they find in these cooperatives, make a real difference to their lives.

Handcrafted Gems

Sinéad now works collaboratively with these suppliers, sustaining traditional craft skills, often fusing them with contemporary ideas and uses.

The collection of handmade craft skills that she showcases includes:

  • hand block-printing
  • hand tie-dying
  • handloom weaving
  • handmade jewellery making

All producing beautiful handcrafted pieces to wear, use or add some eclectic style to your home.

Accessories

The Accessories range of handbags includes clutches, pouches, totes, shoulder, and screen printed carpet bags. All handcrafted in Jaipur, Rajasthan the accessories are designed with the boho lover in mind, but stylish enough for any important event.

To accompany this range, the unique collection of handmade fashion jewellery is created by her fair trade partner and her all-female workforce in Delhi. A fusion of colours and textures make these unique pieces the ideal gift for someone special.
